The Sacrifice (REFLECTION)
THE SACRIFICE
In this story written by Celso Al Carunungan, I was able to feel sad because of the sacrifice shown by the parents for their son named Crispin (one of the main character in the story). While I was reading the story, I saw myself as Crispin because my mother is an Overseas Filipino Worker she is a chef and 2 years ago, I don't want her to be away from us, I don't want her to go to other country because 'What are we going to do if one time me or my brother is sick while she is away?' I know my father can handle that example of situation but it is still different if she is by my side. It is still different if we can feel each others love and care. But in the middle of my opossing, I realize WHY? WHAT? Why is she going to other country? What is the reason? I realize it was for us. She is doing that thing for the goodness of her family. That's why even if against my will, I let her. Even if it hurts to be away from her, I let her to go because I know, I know that it is not easy for her just like what I feel. Just like Crispin, at first he don't want his bestfriend Silver to sell away but when his father started to tell him the story about how he sacrifice their life before, he realize that how big sacrifice they let in order him to be born. He let his bestfriend Silver to be sold for his upcoming brother/sister life. Who else cannnot be hurt if you lose a bestfriend? but if necessary? sometimes we need to give up our satisfaction for the benefit of our love ones or other people that is the meaning of the real sacrifice is.
